Supplies Needed for DIY Textured Wall Art & Custom Frame
Blank Canvas
Paint ( colors of your choice)
Miter box with hand saw ( for precise 45 degree angle cuts for frame)
Paint for the backdrop ( base color for your canvas background)
Antique gold Rub'n Buff ( for a lux look frame finish)
Trim from local hardware store ( cut to size measure the frame size get 2 inches more per cut for mistakes)
Painter's tape ( for creating grid boxes)
Drywall mud ( for raised textured look, comes in small and large bucket goes a long way)
Gloves ( for applying Rub n'Buff) please use in ventilated area

You will of course paint your canvas background then wait until it dries. You may need two or more coats of paint to achieve the desired color for your art.
Next you will apply your painters tape in a grid pattern with the blocks according to the size of your liking.

Then you will layer in your drywall mud. Do not add fan air as it will increase cracks in the texture.
Once you it has partially dried you can carefully remove the tape and let it completely dry overnight.
Paint the grids the desired colors of your choice.

Last step is creating and measuring your trim pieces. Make sure to measure three times before cutting on the 45 degree angles of each cut. Use painters tape to lay out each piece for a dry fit before adding the color to your trim.
You can easily adhere the trim to the canvas with hot glue, small staple gun or a pin nailer.
